7 Marathons in 7 Days
Local Fundraising Event in Support of Winnifred Stewart’s Joey Moss Memorial Fund

(Edmonton, Alberta): On Thursday, August 18th, 2022 Luke Williamson of Accurate Network Services, an Edmonton-based technology services & support company completed the last of 7 marathons in 7 days, in support of Winnifred Stewart’s Joey Moss Memorial Fund.

Each day, beginning on Friday August 12th through to Thursday August 18th, Winnifred Stewart Foundation Board member, supporter and friend, Luke WIlliamson ran 42.2KM for a total of 295.4KM over the week.

The route began at the Edmonton Valley Zoo, routed through Hawrelak Park, down River Valley Road, behind the Rossdale Powerplant, across the new Tawatinâ LRT Bridge and then back to the starting line (21KM) which continued for two loops for a full 42.2KM. Members of the Accurate Networks team were at the starting line each day giving away swag including water bottles, running hats and shirts, as well as Joey Moss Memorial Fund buttons for anyone popping by. Luke was cheered on and joined by friends for portions of the run, as he completed the full 295.4KM throughout the week.

“Luke and Accurate Networks have been a dedicated supporter of Winnifred Stewart for many years, and our organization is so honoured to be supported through this incredible fundraising initiative,” says Emily Ruttan, Winnifred Stewart’s Chief Executive Officer. “It’s amazing to see someone’s passion for health and fitness transfer into supporting building healthy and diverse communities” says Emily.

Luke's goal through his efforts was to raise $25,000.00 which will be directed to Winnifred Stewart’s Joey Moss Memorial Fund, including their employment program, helping to ensure equal opportunity for people with diverse abilities to gain meaningful employment. “As someone who was lucky enough to be given a hand up early in my career it is meaningful to be able to now be in a position to help others.” says Luke.

To date, Luke has raised over $17,000, just shy of his $25,000 goal through his Go Fund Me Page, where donations are still being accepted in support Luke and the Joey Moss Memorial Fund.
