The Winnifred Stewart Association welcomes Sue White as our incoming CEO.
Sue has been actively working with and on behalf of people with disabilities, and in the social profit sector, for over a decade. As Vice President with Special Olympics Alberta she worked with over 3,500 athletes who have an intellectual disability to develop sport skills, social skills and self-esteem. Prior to that Sue was Finance Manager for The GRIT Program, an inclusive, early childhood program for young children with developmental disabilities.
Outside of work, Sue is also closely connected to the social profit sector. She is currently serving as Board Chair for the Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organizations and with the help of her two children, Sue's family fosters assistance dogs in training for Dogs With Wings.
The legacy of Winnifred Stewart is humbling and her belief that people with developmental disabilities have valuable contributions to make to our communities, is one that Sue embraces. WSA is so excited to welcome Sue to the WSA family!
We will miss Larry Smook dearly, and we wish him the best in his future adventures. The past 12 years of Larry's leadership will always be remembered fondly and with admiration for his strong ability to advocate for WSA in the sector.
